Miss Espe's Kindergarten Classroom

Reading: The class is trying to read everything!!! The kids are doing amazing with their reading!!  Each day, the kids are reading books on their own and answering comprehension questions!!!! 

Math: We are getting close to our 100th day of school!! The kids are counting really well by 5's and 10's. All of the kids are doing addition without manipulatives, and that's a first grade skill!!!!  We have started to tell time to the hour.  

Science: We have been talking about the seasons and the different weather that comes along with each season.

Social Studies: We have been learning about Kansas!  We are making a book about the symbols of Kansas and have made some crafts to go along with them. 

Religion:  We are doing a devotional each day called Sticky Situations.  After reading a short story the kids pick which is the best way to solve the problem.  They enjoy doing this and I love listening to them brain storm ways they can incorporate the lesson at school and at home. :)

Homework

The kids are doing great with their handwriting each week.  Thank you for sitting with them while they do it. Also, please check their book pouch each day to see if they have a book to read.  The class is doing amazing with their sight words!
